About

James Martin Jr., President

Jim started Free State Press in April 1973, with little more than a mimeograph machine. Through his stewardship, the company has grown to be one of the most respected copy and print shops in the Annapolis area. A longtime community activist, Jim devotes much of his spare time to environmental and civic causes.

Carol Youmans, Production Manager

Carol combines a keen design sense with the ability to help customers create the image they want. In addition, she schedules and oversees production. Outside the workday, Carol is a theatrical director at Colonial Players and the Annapolis Summer Garden Theatre.

Sarah Conway, Graphics Designer

Sarah handles the composition and prepress department. She is an expert in a full range of page layout and graphics programs; she can design and lay out your project, or output your digital creations for printing or copying.

Pauline Roth, Press Operator

Polly brings many years of press, camera, and plate-making craftsmanship to our operation. Her attention to detail helps ensure that your printing will be of the highest quality.
Stacey Saadeh, Copy Manager

Stacey’s cheerful enthusiasm makes her the perfect first contact with customers at our counter. In addition to customer service, Stacey manages the pressure-filled copying department.

Steve McKerrow, Bindery & Delivery

Steve knows that the job is not ready to present to the customer until he has applied his skills to it in the last a most critical step, finishing.  After the job is sized, assembled and wrapped by Steve, he promptly gets it to your home or office.  Steve edits a local environmental organization newsletter and loves to kayak his beloved Weems Creek.
